Lucky Star Charms

It all started with challenging myself to fold a 1000 origami lucky stars in 30 days. A special way to pray that everyone will have a better year.

How it started

I thought it would be nice to do a creative challenge in the new year to send positive energy into the world.
There is a custom in Asia where one would fold a 1000 origami cranes to make wish come true. In January of 2021 I wanted to do a prayer for human kind to wish everyone a better year. So I created a challenge to fold a 1000 lucky stars with quotes inside in 30 days. It was hard but fun and I managed to succeed. To continue this thoughtful exercise I decided to do this every year in January, though it will only be 100 stars. Now I am left with these lucky stars and I made them into jewelry with meaningful thought behind them. A gift with a story.

With love and care

Recycling as much material I can and using materials I already have.
There is a magazine, Flow, I really enjoy and I have many saved in the attic. These pages of the magazine is the perfect paper to recycle and to fold unique and colorful lucky stars. For the necklace cord I am using Bobbiny 100% recycled cotton. Then I hand braid them into a cord into right size. Other parts of the jewelry pieces are left over from other projects. I also add a glue seal on the stars to make them a tad sturdier and resistant to a few drops of water.
